Developing cooperation with students

For the past two years, we have developed a close and valuable collaboration with Campus Varberg and, above all, the System.net training program. After we were contacted by an education leader at Campus Varberg, we attended a LIA mingle and since then we have admitted a total of four students to LIA from System.net. In the spring there will be another person, but this time from the IT Project Manager training. Campus Varberg has very forward-thinking education leaders who investigate companies' skills needs and adapt the courses accordingly.

We see great benefits in admitting students on LIA periods. It brings people into the organization with new energy and new knowledge, which allows us to keep up to date with the latest developments. It also gives us an opportunity to get to know each other properly and evaluate a possible future employment.

LIA period at Zhipster

During an LIA period at Zhipster, as a student, you can expect to be properly versed in the company. You will be involved in the entire business process and learn how our organization works and meet the market based on our business model. With us, you as a student will receive a dedicated and competent tutor who will act as a ball board throughout the LIA period. When you are ready, you will get to test working with sharp cases, of course in close cooperation with your supervisor and other colleagues. You come to a lovely, cheerful bunch that constantly strives to keep evolving.

Right now we have Alvin Strandberg on LIA period with us. Alvin is studying the third semester at System Developer .Net at Campus Varberg, and has been at Zhipster for almost a month.

Alvin, what attracted you to your education?

I have had access to a lot of technology from an early age and have always been very tech-oriented. After working seven years as a construction worker, the transition to programming strangely felt very natural and obvious.

What do you want to work on after training?

I want to work with running and building projects where I am constantly learning new things and can increase my skills in IT and business development.

Why did you choose Zhipster for LIA?

Among other things, because Zhipster is a small company with its own product. For me, it's important to feel involved and have a role that actually affects the production and the product.

I feel that I get to be involved through the whole process and that there are more opportunities to learn more about a lot from being in a smaller organization.

What might a day at Zhipster look like for you?

The day always starts with me reviewing what to focus on, usually it's an assigned card that I continue to build and develop.
The work often requires me to interact with the project manager to determine exactly which function is requested by the client and what requirements exist.
From time to time I consult my helpful tutor Kent for help and tips on how the structure and architecture should look. It's great to get criticism on the work I produce to be able to learn more and understand how the company builds its product.

How has your LIA period been?

My LIA period has been amazing so far! Even before LIA started, I had the opportunity to be involved in the company's way of working and technology. It has spurred me on and throughout the period I have learned a lot about the real work.
