There are more than 40 companies in the Lindab Group, and the way they work with logistics in the different companies varies, among other things, depending on the degree of digitalization. Lindab uses Zhipster as a black box for shipping documents. This means that Lindab does not work directly in Zhipster but in its own business system where data is automatically sent to Zhipster in order to be able to create shipping documents and have communication with carriers.
Zhipster is implemented in Lindab companies in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, France and the Czech Republic. Previously, some of the companies worked in other TA systems and other companies worked more manually by booking the transports and printing shipping documents through the carrier's portal. Thanks to the implementation of Zhipster in the companies with more manual management, the time savings have been great.
By using semi-integration, Zhipster has given Lindab the opportunity to have EDI even against smaller carriers where it has not wanted to go all the way with a full integration.
Since Lindab exports goods all over the world and different countries have different requirements for customs documents, Zhipster has developed a tailor-made solution for customs documents in cooperation with Lindab.
We met Osman Kukish, Strategic Freight Purchaser and System Owner for Transportation-Related Systems at Lindab to talk about the collaboration with Zhipster.
How does the collaboration with Zhipster work?
We perceive Zhipster as very solution-oriented. They always look out for our needs and do not back down for development opportunities.
What are your biggest challenges today?
The biggest challenge related to transport that Lindab has today is traceability from the moment the goods have been loaded by a carrier until it is delivered. Although there is the possibility of updates when goods have arrived at the terminal, for example, Lindab and Lindab's customers lack the ability to follow the transport in more detail in real time.
What does the future of logistics look like?
We believe that the future of the logistics industry looks bright because logistics are everywhere in society and the challenges of recent years have shown how important functioning logistics is. We also believe that sustainability and more efficient transport will be even more important. In order to achieve more efficient transport, digitalisation is an important part of this.
